Hydrangreas Gone Wild

I just finished this, using a "pour and negative painting" technique.  It and the painting "Craning the Neck" will be in an S.W.S. display at UTD's School of Managenment through the end of the year.

I just finished a workshop with Lian Zhen where we concentrated on watercolor pouring and negative painting.  I really like how this turned out.  Stay tuned . . . more in this style are coming.

After the Round

This is a study of white on white, and on a golf course, of course.

Balloon Touchdown in Fog

Last year in Arizona we saw hot air balloons and the red rocks of Sedona.  I imagined what a soft landing would be like on a foggy morning there.

Nawlins

Last year we were in New Orleans (or Nawlins to locals).  Here is a memory of an early morning walk on Bourbon Street, after the trash had been collected and the streets washed of the previous night's revelry.

Plein Air Painting -- Texas Style

In late September, Southwestern Watercolor Society had a weekend paint-out in the charming town of Corsicana, an hour south of Dallas.  About 30 of us spent a couple of days painting the town red . . . and yellow . . . and green.  Here are a couple of my paintings from the weekend.

Fast Demo

Last week the Southwestern Watercolor Society's 61st Exhibition opened.  I was asked to do a demonstration at the hotel next to the show site to help promote the show.  Here it is.

Tennyson

I just finished this for a special family for whom Tennyson is very dear.  God bless them all.

Yellow . . . yellow . . . yellow!

As those who have tried it, painting in predominantly yellow is a challenge.  I gave it a shot.  It's difficult to make dark areas of yellow read well.

A Couple of Vignettes

Here are a couple of vignettes I just finished, both painted from photos I took in Jerome, AZ, near Sedona.  There is a large junk yard, nee gold mine, that is a treasure chest of photo/painting opportunities.

Mustangs

This is a painting I've resurrected for some old friends.  Just a bunch of mustangs, coming around the bend.

One of my favorite themes is sunsets and sun rises. Here is a new painting, Downtown Sun-up.

A few months ago I painted this watercolor, Great Balls of Fire.  Recently, I revamped it and improved it.
