I just finished this, using a "pour and negative painting" technique. It and the painting "Craning the Neck" will be in an S.W.S. display at UTD's School of Managenment through the end of the year.

Crane in swamp at sunset
I just finished a workshop with Lian Zhen where we concentrated on watercolor pouring and negative painting. I really like how this turned out. Stay tuned . . . more in this style are coming.

Balloon Touchdown in Fog
Last year in Arizona we saw hot air balloons and the red rocks of Sedona. I imagined what a soft landing would be like on a foggy morning there.
Nawlins
Last year we were in New Orleans (or Nawlins to locals). Here is a memory of an early morning walk on Bourbon Street, after the trash had been collected and the streets washed of the previous night's revelry.
Plein Air Painting -- Texas Style
In late September, Southwestern Watercolor Society had a weekend paint-out in the charming town of Corsicana, an hour south of Dallas. About 30 of us spent a couple of days painting the town red . . . and yellow . . . and green. Here are a couple of my paintings from the weekend.

Yellow . . . yellow . . . yellow!
As those who have tried it, painting in predominantly yellow is a challenge. I gave it a shot. It's difficult to make dark areas of yellow read well.
A Couple of Vignettes
Here are a couple of vignettes I just finished, both painted from photos I took in Jerome, AZ, near Sedona. There is a large junk yard, nee gold mine, that is a treasure chest of photo/painting opportunities.
